Overview

Future Super’s mission is to seek out financially rewarding investments in companies that are working for a better planet. Our investment strategy seeks to provide a competitive financial return for our members while making a positive impact for the environment and our society. Future Super is Australia’s first fossil free super fund. This means that Future Super will not invest in companies or activities which mine, extract, burn or distribute fossil fuels or which provide significant services or finance to fossil fuel projects. Future Super members believe the fossil fuel industry poses too many risks from an environmental, social and financial perspective. We believe that there are great opportunities to invest in companies and activities which are providing climate change solutions and making a positive contribution to the protection of our environment and our society.

Description

Future Super was created to connect Australians to their power to invest in a better future. Our impact is achieved by creating a community that divests from unethical and harmful activities and invests in businesses and projects that are making the world sustainable and equitable. As a result, we do not invest in any fossil fuel companies, or in any companies providing significant services and financing to the fossil fuel industry. We are the only super fund to not invest in the big four banks, who are the major financiers of fossil fuel projects in Australia. We also screen out investments in detention centres, live animal export, armaments, and more. Instead, we seek out investments in companies making a positive social and environmental impact, such as renewable energy and healthcare. Our ethical investment mandate is maintained and monitored by our in-house ethical investment team, who also perform the ethical screening work for the fund. Our investment management is also performed in-house, which means we have oversight over every investment made on behalf of our members. Our team applies a negative and positive screen to Australian and global listed equities, while seeking to create impact through Future Super's fixed interest, infrastructure and alternatives portfolio. Future Super's impact focus is on helping build Australia's clean energy future. The Future Super Growth option has a target 20% allocation to renewable energy. Our ethical investment team also works with other fund managers, like Betashares and Infradebt, to create and provide seed investment for new products that meet Future Super's strict ethical mandate. We believe this is an important step in delivering our impact because it provides pathways for all investors, including other super funds, to invest in true-to-label ethical products.

Future Super believes in transparency. Our whole portfolio can be easily found on our website at www.myfuturesuper.com.au
