How we evaluate products
Responsible Investment strategies, processes, practices and disclosures are assessed against the eight criteria for product certification in the Responsible Investment Standard and accompanying Guidance and Assessment Notes.
What are the requirements?
In order to certify products as certified responsible investments, RIAA assesses them against its RI Certification Standard. The Certification Standard is underpinned by eight requirements that act as the guiding principles of the RI Certification Program. Since its inception the RI Certification Standard has evolved significantly, reflecting the dynamic evolution of responsible investment. These eight requirements are:
- RI strategies are formal, disclosed, consistent, auditable and fit for purpose
- Labels are clear, honest and not misleading
- Product avoids significant harm
- Discloses full holdings, performance, sustainability outcomes and engagement and voting practices
- Managed by active stewards, and managers can detail the stewardship practices and outcomes
- Organisation has formal commitment to responsible investment
- Organisation provides educational information to members and customers about RI strategies

Overview
The T. Rowe Price Global Impact Equity Fund was inspired by our desire to proactively address some of the challenges confronting our planet and society. We believe impact investing can be part of the solution to address these challenges—via conscious allocation of capital, company engagement, and skilled execution.
Our approach targets underappreciated impact, in combination with mispriced future economic returns, on a truly global, stock-by-stock basis. Investing in companies that we believe are on the side of secular change that aligns with our impact goals, is key to unlocking improving economic returns in business models, especially in an era of shifting consumer, business, and regulatory preferences. We believe stocks that deliver positive environmental and/or social impact have the potential to offer better topline and bottom-line growth prospects than the overall market. Aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), we apply a forward-looking, research-driven, and high-conviction approach, analyzing the full breadth of impact opportunities available in an evolving and complex world.
Description
The Global Impact Equity Fund seeks long-term growth of capital by investing in companies that offer positive environmental and/or social impact. The fund follows a dual mandate that focuses on companies that we believe offer a positive impact today and underappreciated impact in the future, as well as sustainability and robustness of future earnings and cash flow growth. Our investment process is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and every investment decision much align with at least one SDG and one of our proprietary impact pillars in aiming to ensure material and measurable environmental and/or social impact as businesses address globally recognized pressure points.
Our fundamental research platform and dedicated Responsible Investing team—which is focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues—provide the breadth of resources and global perspectives necessary in building a positive impact portfolio. We actively engage with companies on ESG issues and apply a strategy-specific proxy voting policy that reflects the dual nature of our mandate. We invest intentionally for positive impact while taking steps to avoid investments that are doing significant harm to society or the environment.
We, the Responsible Investment Association Australasia, don't earn any commission from providers or products you switch to.
