Overview

In addition to providing attractive risk-adjusted returns, the Fund aims to support a more sustainable future planet and society by focusing investment in businesses where commercial success creates and multiplies a positive sustainability impact, as measured against one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). The sustainability objectives of the Fund are embedded across the lifecycle of each investment. These objectives are built on four pillars of sustainability:

• No Harm

• Positive Impact

• Drive organisational ESG awareness

• Facilitate organisational alignment with ESG principles.

Avoiding harm and investment exclusions

As a core principle, the Manager aims to avoid harm by excluding investments which contribute to environmental and social harm or which violate the Guiding Principles of the UN Global Compact (UNGC). The Fund’s investment exclusion list is guided by the International Finance Corporation's (IFC) Exclusions List, the UNGC and MSCI’s ESG screening methodology. The Manager may update the Fund’s investment exclusion list from time to time, as approved by its Sustainability Committee. The Fund’s exclusion list can be obtained by contacting the Trustee.

Support a sustainable future planet and society

Each investment of the Fund must support a sustainable future planet and society. The Manager applies a clear sustainability framework built upon best-practice guidance – including the UNSDGs, UNGC, UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and the IFC exclusions list. In addition, 10% of Performance Fees will be donated via the MA Foundation to further support the UNSDGs.
