How we evaluate products
Responsible Investment strategies, processes, practices and disclosures are assessed against the eight criteria for product certification in the Responsible Investment Standard and accompanying Guidance and Assessment Notes.
What this symbol means
General certification: This Symbol signifies that a product or service offers an investment style that takes into account environmental, social, governance or ethical considerations, and that it adheres to the operational and disclosure practices required under the Responsible Investment Certification Program for the category of Product.
Sustainable Plus classification: This Symbol signifies that a product or service has been certified and classified to offer an investment style that takes into account environmental, social, governance or ethical considerations, with embedded, measurable and reported sustainability objectives aligned with portfolio holdings and stewardship practices, adhering to the operational and disclosure practices required under the Responsible Investment Certification Program for the category of Product.

Overview
ELM Responsible Investments is a Melbourne based boutique investment firm focused on sustainable and ethical, long-term investments. The ELM Responsible Investments Global Fund is a concentrated portfolio our best global ideas: we combined our Sustainability Framework (guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and IMP Five Dimensions of Impact) with our Investment Framework that includes traditional financial models and analytical methods, with an emphasis on identifying high-quality companies. Through this process we construct a portfolio typically between 10-30 companies that are facilitating the transition to a more sustainable world.

TheElm Responsible Investments (ELMRI) Global Fund invests in innovative growthcompanies that are striving for positive change and delivering social andenvironmental outcomes, whilst also aiming to achieve strong returns forinvestors.

We invest in globallisted securities, typically in mid and large cap companies. We aim tooutperform the MSCI World Accumulation Index in Australian Dollars (Benchmark)on a net of fees basis. We have a long-term investment horizon of 5-7 years,taking concentrated long-only positions without reference to the Benchmark.Therefore the returns of the Fund may differ significantly from the returns ofthe Benchmark.

The ELMRIGlobal Fund is unhedged, and is a long-only, fully invested equities strategy,with low cash levels typically <5% of the portfolio value. The cash levelsmay vary depending on available investment opportunities as well as theliquidity needs of the Fund. The Global Fund is not permitted to invest inderivatives, borrow cash, or short-sell securities.

Our strategy is to identify stocksfollowing ELMRI’s proprietary Investment and Sustainability Frameworks. TheInvestment Framework is focused on identifying high-quality companies withcompelling investment return prospects. The Sustainability Framework is guidedby the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the Impact ManagementProject’s 5 Dimensions of Impact. Through this process we focus on identifyingcompanies that make a positive contribution to the environment, society and allother stakeholders.
By following these frameworks, we believe we can construct a portfolio thattargets strong returns for clients whilst also investing in companies thatfacilitate the transition to a more sustainable future.
