Socially responsible investment in Australia continued to grow dramatically over the past year – rising to at least $13.9 billion. This is an increase of 32% since the baseline study in 2001. Assets of SRI managed funds in Australia grew by 31% between 2001 and 2002, in marked contrast to assets of managed funds as a whole, which declined by 0.1% during the year to 30 June 2002.
Since 1996, SRI managed fund assets in this country have achieved a staggering growth rate of over 700%. The number of SRI managed funds has also increased dramatically. In 1996, there were 10 funds. The 2001 baseline study identified 46 funds, and this year, there are 74.
