The meeting will open with a presentation on the Commonwealth cultural heritage reform process from Aurora Milroy, the Director of Policy at the National Native Title Council. Anirudha Nagar, the Director of Clean Energy and Investment at the National Native Title Council, will then present on the Future made in Australia and future acts regime. We will then continue with the regular working group agenda, including an update on the Dhawura Ngilan Business and Investor Initiative, First Nations Investment Markets Research, an Aotearoa update, the StockWatch Report and RIAA’s policy update. Please note the presentation component of this meeting will not be recorded so we encourage you to join the meeting at the scheduled time.

This meeting opened with a presentation from Karl Briscoe, Co-Chair of the national Close the Gap Campaign. This was followed by the working group’s standard agenda items including a series of industry updates as well as updates from the group’s subgroups. The working group then had the opportunity to reflect on our workplan as well as receive an update from RIAA’s Head of Policy and Advocacy.

To compliment the Working Group’s research on First Nations Investment Markets (Currently in development), our next meeting will begin with a special presentation from Ben Ainsworth and a Q&A exploring how investors can de-risk investment in First Nations’ investment communities. This will then be followed by an update from the First Nations Heritage Protection Alliance in regard to updates on their work and any legislative developments in relation to cultural heritage. We will also hear updates on the Dhawura Ngilan Business and Investor Initiative, and First Nations Investment Markets Research, as well as the Aotearoa Update, the StockWatch Report and RIAA’s Policy Update.

Following the official Australasian launch of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) recommendations, First Nations Peoples’ Rights Working Group will take a deep dive into the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities component of TNFD. Join us for a special presentation and discussion with the Stan Lui (Owner/Director of Five Cubed Environmental Indigenous Consultants) and Stefani Eagle (Consulting Director of ERM) to explore more about connecting to nature followed by our working group meeting.
