Impact Investing – A global view

Tuesday, 17th October 2017

9:00am – 10:00am AEDT

Interest and participation in impact investing is growing across the investment community, however different markets are at varying stages of development, with their own distinct attributes.
This webinar, brought to you by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia’s Impact Investment Forum, provides participants with a global view on the growth on impact investing and the emerging themes and issues spanning geographies, asset classes and impact themes.  We also unpack the state of impact investing within Australia and New Zealand and local strategies to develop the market for impact investments.

The webinar will hear from:

Amit Bouri, CEO of the Global Impact Investment Initiative (GIIN) will unpack the results of the GIIN’s Annual Impact Investor Survey 2017 including investment activity, asset allocations by geography, sector and instrument, impact measurement practice and measurement. He’ll give some insight into issues of interest to the impact investing sectors including market segmentation, the entry of large-scale financial firms into the market, impact investing in public equities and how investors are engaging around the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Rosemary Addis, Chair of the Australian Advisory Board on Impact Investing, will introduce people to the work of the Global Social Impact Investment Steering Group, provide an overview of how Australia sits within the global context, characteristics of the Australian ecosystem and work happening to renew the strategy for developing the market within Australia.

Alex Hannant, CEO of the Akina Foundation, will talk about the recent developments underway to develop the impact investing market in New Zealand, and discuss the current state and future opportunities for impact investment in New Zealand.
